Cold nights down by the fire

To me, there’s nothing that even begins to compare to a fantastic steak that has been cooked over an open fire to the perfect degree. I feel that it’s much easier and even faster to just cook using the old oven or stove, however to me, the flame gives food a distinct flavor which can’t be recreated and that I truly enjoy. Only a couple of times a year, I have a breakfast celebration for myself where I invite all of our friends over to cook this way. Last weekend was the perfect time whenever both of us did it most recently, and it sure was a chilly evening! As both of us got together and gathered around the firepit, everyone was eager to get the tasty steaks cooked because it was so cold. After a couple of hours of hanging out, I noticed that more than 2 of our friends had disappeared and headed right back inside so that they could soak in the hot air of the gas furnace. The handful of people who stuck it out with myself and others were real troopers to be sure. By the end, both of us rushed inside to eat and get a fire going in the old fireplace. While both of us could have just stuck to using the heater, I feel that there’s something truly wonderful about laying in front of the fireplace on a particularly cold evening. It warms the bones and creates a nice atmosphere to spend quality time with friends. The evening ended up being great! All of us enjoyed our tasty charred steaks, and after that both of us drank some wine while resting around the old fireplace. This is an absolute preferred tradition of mine! I like taking advantage of the truly chilly weather to cook over an open fire. These evenings consistently make myself and others sincerely wish that winters lasted a little longer. There’s nothing quite the same as fantastic friends, fantastic food, and a fire to keep warm.
