I was recently so ridiculously excited when I found a training class to become an Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professional that I almost burst at the seams. The entire course was only a year and a half & I would be fully certified to work for any number of companies as soon as I was finished with the degree. My parents had been after me to find some sort of career direction in our life anyway so I figured that this would be perfect for me and my family. I worked hard during university & completed the set of courses at the top of the group. This opened various doors for me & I immediately had many job offers within a week. I guess I thought the job would be a bit glamorous of sorts. I never pictured myself in some of the nasty and dangerous situations I face on a biweekly basis. Crawling through disgusting small spaces under houses, maneuvering all throughout dusty attics crowded with boxes & removing dead vermin are pretty much the norm in my life. When I do have a call that simply involves a filter change or pressure test of the system, it goes without saying that I am somewhat relieved. Honestly, there are days that I come home feeling pretty defeated about my decisions. Although the job is not what I pictured it to be, in the end I am still cheerful that I chose this line of work. The extra money is wonderful & I know that Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repairs always will regularly be in high demand.
