I’ve been steadily working at painting my guest bathroom, and working to strip, sand and refinish the interior of the door. It’s a tedious project, but I do enjoy most of it. There’s just one thing I don’t like: In order to work on the bathroom door, the door has to be closed. Every time I close the door, ventilation in the powder room is cut off. I don’t understand what causes it, because there is a large air vent right across the side of the floor. Cold air from the a/c blows through the vent when the powder room door is open, but as soon as the door closes, the A/C might as well be off! I can’t wrap my head around it. I had my boyfriend go down into the basement to check the central A/C filters. Maybe they were so dirty that the airflow was restricted somehow? Sure enough, that was the case! Once we changed the air filters, the bathroom started to cool off considerably. I don’t understand how, but I’m thrilled nonetheless. The little room turned into a sweatbox almost immediately every time I closed the door in the past, and those days were now behind me. It’s really something to me, the way a new air filter can make your a/c unit function like new. I’m betting that our utility bills are going to be lowered this month, too. It just goes to show you that staying on top of your Heating and Air Conditioning service concerns is something that every homeowner should do! All of us should never have let the air filter get that dirty and disgusting, and who knows how much better our central a/c could have been performing this warm season?
