Bob and I have a couples night every Thursday night. Last week, was more special than usually because the two of us were celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary. I went shopping bought a gorgeous strapless dress and some nice costume jewelry to go with it. My partner made reservations at a wonderful diner and at a attractive hotel on the beach. It is about a three hour drive for us, and when the two of us were over halfway there, I realized that I had forgotten a sweater. The up-to-date dress I bought was strapless, and I knew that the diner would be genuinely cold like always. Just as I thought, the first thing I noticed when I walked in to the diner was how freezing and uncomfortable it was. I asked for some hot green tea hoping it would warm me up a bit, and unfortunately, it didn’t. I asked our waiter if he could turn the A/C down a little, and he said he could! I didn’t notice a change in the temperature and by the time our food arrived, I was so freezing cold I was shaking. I felt so bad having to ask my partner to leave earlier than the two of us had planned, but he was more than willing since he knew I was genuinely cold and miserable. However when our waiter observed us getting ready to leave he asked us if there was a problem. I told him that it was simply too freezing in the diner for us to stay and enjoy ourselves. He asked us politely to wait while he talked to his employer. The employer came back and apologized many times for it being so cold. He didn’t charge us for anything and promised to raise the temperature. Thankfully, the two of us were able to stay plus finish our meals. I don’t understand why diners are so cold, however I wish they weren’t.
