When I was in school, I worked on the maintenance crew at a local hotel. It was the perfect way for me to make some extra money while I was taking classes. I learned a lot about household repairs and mechanics while working this job. The thing I dealt with the most were the A/C units. Each individual room at the hotel featured its own cooling system, so there was constantly an air conditioner in need of some service. If I wasn’t replacing an air filter, I was cleaning out an air vent. If I wasn’t repairing a leak, someone’s thermostat had malfunctioned. Seriously, taking care of the many air conditioners on the property took up the majority of my time. I would often get aggravated with the constant Air Conditioner troubles. I’m glad that I learned what goes into keeping up with the care of HVAC units. Now that I have my own house, I am aware of what exactly what goes into keeping my own cooling system in tip top shape. I never need to call a professional to help, and that has saved me a great deal of money over the years. In fact, I don’t think I’ll ever need the help of an HVAC contractor until it’s time to replace the system altogether. When I first took my job at the hotel I assumed it would be a chance for me to earn some spending money until school was over, but I ended up learning a lot of useful skills. That was a beneficial thing for me to do!
