Tonight I took my two youngest children out to dinner while their siblings were in a class. I never take these two out by themselves, and now I remember why! They had the worst behavior ever in the restaurant, and I was thoroughly embarrassed by the way that they both acted. First of all, as soon as we walked in the door, my daughter said, “Ugh! This place stinks!” And she said it very loudly. She wasn’t wrong; the indoor air quality of the restaurant did leave something to be desired. Next, my son started complaining about the air conditioning in the place – or should I say, the lack of air conditioning. He piped up, “Yeah, it smells in here and it’s super hot and stuffy! Doesn’t this place have any A/C? What kind of place doesn’t have air conditioning? Why is the heating on in the middle of summer? Why isn’t there any A/C coming through the air vents?” It was just ridiculous. No matter how many times I told them to be quiet, they just kept on complaining about the smell of the air coming through the ventilation system and the noticeable lack of cooled air from the air conditioning. Don’t even get me started on how bad their table manners were! It was bad enough listening to them say things to the server like, “Can you check the thermostat?” and “Can you please tell the manager to cut the A/C on? It’s like a furnace in this place!” I don’t know if I’ll ever take them to dinner again without my husband there to back me up on the manners situation. Rotten kids.
