With summertime on the horizon, I find my mind straying. Often I am unable to focus on work. I’m thinking that it might be the weather, as it is getting warmer. Or perhaps it’s a late onslaught of springtime fever. Either way, my office is a bit on the hot side, although it is barely eighty degrees outside. I keep thinking about how lovely it would be to be outside, yet I do need to finish my work this week. Then I consider turning the air conditioner on. But as high as the cost of energy has climbed, I am curious if I can’t go without the air conditioner for the entire summer. Then I look at the stats on the website of my energy carrier, which say that I’m not using that much extra energy in the summertime compared to the winter. My hubby says I am simply looking for a reason not to finish my work. However, I personally believe it is because of the added heat, given how drowsy it is making me. I’m also convinced that my lack of concentration has to do with the heat. Therefore I have a small portable air conditioner that I can place in my room. Although I am uneasy about the energy costs that go along with using the cooling system, I am more concerned about falling asleep and then not getting my work completed at all. I do think the air conditioner is my best option. I assume my husband is feeling similarly about the weather because he keeps asking me if I want him to turn the air conditioner on.
