While my supper was cooking in my oven, I decided to do a bit of work in my home office. I turned the air conditioning on because it was too warm to be comfortable. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the air conditioning once I did turn it on, and now I wish I had. You see, I walked out of the office only long enough to look at the roast in the oven. I was aware that I should add a bit of liquid to it so it wouldn’t dry out entirely, but something else was drawing my attention. Suddenly my smoke alarm started to beep, which made me think that my supper was burning. I knew that wasn’t possible because I was in the kitchen at the time. So I went back to my office only to discover there was smoke coming out of the air conditioner. I had no real clue as to what to do, so I just turned it off. Then I let it sit there for a while, but suddenly the smoke started again. Well, then I saw small flames coming out of the back, out into the open air, and the only thing I could think to do was push the unit out the window. I pushed hard, and it landed on my prize rosebush. As it was pretty dry at that time, I quickly ran around the house to grab the hose. I’m quite happy I had the hose because sure enough, my rosebush was on fire and it is planted right next to the house. Fortunately, I smothered the fire quickly…and went back into the house only to see my supper on fire.
