Our home has two temperature controls and two oil furnaces, even though I wouldn’t exactly call it zone heating. Part of our home is really outdated – the original section of the home was built way back in the early section of last century. Then the newer section of the home was only built about 10 years ago, however you can imagine the difference in how well the walls are insulated in the two unusual sections. We find that even if all of us set the temperature control at the same temperature on the unusual sides of the house, 1 of the oil furnaces has to run much longer and job much harder than the 1 on the other side of the house. You can really think which oil furnace gets stuck with all of the work. It’s absolutely the 1 that has to heat the older side of the house. We’ve had multiple Heating & A/C business out to look at the concerns all of us have here but they all say it’s a concern with the insulation, or lack thereof. There isn’t much all of us can do to help with the oil furnace running always on that side of the house, unless all of us decide to install some of that blow in insulation that you can get these nights. It seems love the outdated insulation in the walls of our outdated home was nothing more than newspapers! Hopefully with current insulation all of us will get the oil furnace issue resolved because it’s very drafty here and all of us don’t want to have to update 1 of the heating units every 5 years or so because it’s not running efficiently enough.
