When I was a kid, I dealt with these really awful irritations from pollen and other allergens. All year round, my pollen irritations were at an all time high! I wasn’t allergic to anything in particular, so my doctors called them “seasonal” allergies. I didn’t understand how that could be possible, seeing as these sensitivities weren’t limited to a season in particular. Regardless, I took allergy medication weekly and pushed through. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized my sensitivities were a product of my environment! When I moved into a new apartment, my pollen irritations got worse, so I decided to consult my landlord for possible solutions. He sent over this incredibly knowledgeable Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist to check things out. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist informed me that the vents in my home were filthy and in dire need of a cleaning, and the ductwork likely had the same needs. He cleaned out the vents and filters, as well as the ducts, and found that they were covered in dust and debris. It took him a few hours to complete it, but the next day I dusted and cleaned the house from floor to ceiling in my own effort to rid the home of allergens. After a few days, I felt my ailment subside at last! I wasn’t sneezing all day long anymore, as my eyes stopped itching too. I was confused at first, but I did some research and found that many people stated their pollen irritations got better after cleaning out their vents and air filters. I couldn’t believe how an easy solution made such a big difference! I wish my parents knew about this when I was a child, as it would have made my childhood allergies much more bearable! All that matters now is that my sensitivities have greatly improved. Big thanks to the HVAC specialist, who opened my eyes to a better standard of living!
