I got in a huge fight with our parents last week, and not an unfamiliar occurrence in this household and not unfamiliar to the parent/teen dynamic, although I suddenly realized how off base I was. I have to supply our parents a lot of credit for putting up with me, even if I am their only kid. I decided I wanted to do something nice for them while they were away at work 1 day, then my dad had been meaning to clean out the eaves in the attic for sometime now, however never seemed to have the time get up there and do it. I decided to do this for him, and I started that afternoon by diving head first into the clutter and debris that has collected over the years. As I was bringing out the boxes and moving all the junk around a big spider crawled out of 1 scared me so bad. I flew backwards, tripping over an unused yoga mat and falling right into a line of duct work and ripped it right in half. It was at this moment I remember our father saying how the eaves was a bad venue to store things because she feared the edges and sharp corners would rip a hole or tear into the HVAC duct. Having to update any part of an HVAC system is regularly so costly and such a pain, and she easily didn’t any of the HVAC techs we had in our area. It was so official of me, to turn a great deed into nuisance for our parents.
