When I was a kid, I had really bad allergies. All year round, allergies were at an all time high for me, even though I wasn’t allergic to anything certain. My doctor called them seasonal allergies, for that reason. I didn’t get why that could happen anyway, seeing as allergies weren’t just in one season! Regardless, I took allergy medication weekly and pushed through as best as I could. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized these allergies were a product of our environment, and not inherent trait. When I moved into a newer up-to-date apartment, te allergies got worse! I decided to consult the landlord, who sent over an HVAC specialist to check things out. The HVAC specialist informed me that the vents in the place were totally filthy, and needed to be properly cleaned and sterilized. They proceeded to clean out the vents and filters, and found that they were covered in dust and debris! It took them only a few hours to do it, and I’m glad they did. The next afternoon, I dusted and cleaned the house from ceiling to floor. After a few days, I felt the allergies subside! I wasn’t sneezing all day, and these eyes weren’t itching like crazy either. I was confused, obviously, so I did some research online and found that many people stated their allergies got better after cleaning out their vents and filters. I couldn’t believe it – such a simple solution made such a sizable difference! When I asked the parents if they ever heard of this option, they said they hadn’t. I wish they did! It would have made childhood much more bearable. All that matters now is that my allergies have gotten much better! I can finally breathe with ease, and that’s worth it right there.
