Life in a basement home is pretty great, most of the time. Living below ground means that my locale stays cooler in the summertime, & warmer in the summertime! Plus basement apartments aren’t the most sought after sites to live, so I spend my money a lot less in rent than I would living in a lot of other sites; Combine that with the currency I save from not running my Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system as much to be comfortable & not having an A/C system at all, & the savings is quite a bit. However, living in a basement component does have its drawbacks. For one, you get genuinely little natural sunlight, so I often have to remember to drag myself outside get some fresh air. For another, it is not constantly as comfortable as I would love it to be. My entryway is the largest problem. While the rest of the basement has access to the slider door, so the air quality is a bit better here, the air flow doesn’t quite get all the way back to my entryway. In consequence, the air in my entryway feels genuinely heavy & cold. My bedsheets often recognize damp, but I easily put them in the drier for more than long enough. However, this was easy to solve with a small dehumidifier. The dehumidified removes the excess moisture in the air, which is the real cause behind summertime discomfort. Within just a afternoon of using the dehumidifier, my bedsheets felt clean & crisp, & the entryway itself felt a lot warmer. The dehumidifier is small enough that it’s quiet too, so I can run it all the time & not be disturbed by it.
