I have to get my way

Being a woman in her fifties brings some fun challenges to everyday life. Those challenges include time-tested adventure games, such as “Make it to work without sweating through your shirt”, or the fan favorite “drive with your head sticking out of the car window like a dog”! Jokes aside, this time in my life has shown me some bodily changes that I’m not enjoying at all. Of all the symptoms of menopause that I can’t stand, the hot flashes are the worst part! I’ve never been one to sweat heavily for my whole life, but now I can’t sleep through the night without waking up in a pool of my own sweat! My husband is supportive and tells me it’s okay, but I still felt insecure about this phenomenon. Well, my darling husband surprised me a week later with something I never even knew existed. It was a portable fan, specifically built to blow cool air under the sheets of your bed. Simply called a “bed fan”, this small air conditioning system proved to be the MVP of my nightly battles with these symptoms. The bed fan faithfully circulates cool air under the covers as I sleep, which ensures that I still get as much airflow as if I were sleeping with nothing on me at all. I love my husband for making such a thoughtful purchase for me, as the bed fan hasn’t left the bedside since the day he brought it home for me! Now, if only I could find a fix for my other symptoms…
