Call me crazy, but I just committed to buy and have central air conditioning installed in my home this winter. Of course I don’t plan on using it in the winter, that would really be crazy! But after reading a flyer that came in the mail from a local HVAC company, I was convinced that winter is the perfect time for a/c installation. The number one reason mentioned in the flyer is that HVAC professionals often offer the lowest prices for the purchase and installation of central air conditioning during the winter months. The law of supply and demand applies to this scenario. After doing a few google searches, I found several price reductions by other HVAC companies during the winter. Another reason for the price reduction is that you can have your pick of when you’d like the installation to take place. Compare this to the summer months when you’ll likely have to wait for weeks before the air conditioning technicians can fit you into their busy schedules. As hard as is it to think about the discomfort of the heat and humidity of summer when at that moment it’s snowing and blowing outside, it still is a convincing talking point. And deciding to install air conditioning during the winter season allows more time to consider the options and features that are involved with the purchase and installation process. As I mentioned, I did my research regarding pricing, options, and company ratings before contacting the company whose flyer I received. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s being pressured to make a decision in the ‘heat’ of the moment. Finally, I find great satisfaction in knowing that I’ll be ready for the hottest, stickiest weather that nature can dish out – long before I need to be.
