The furnace was not doing it’s job

When I was growing up, my parents were adamant about making sure I knew how to take care of myself. As early as multiple years old, my Mom taught myself and others how to handle a ton of household chores, such as washing the dishes, taking out the garbage, cleaning plus dusting the house, plus more. As I got older, my Mom also showed myself and others how to chop some living expenses for the condo – I’m ecstatic he did, as I use multiple of his little tricks to this day! The thing is, I thought that my parents plus their approach to teaching self-reliance was the norm. It wasn’t until I moved in with multiple friends after university, that I came to a hasty realization – I was an exception! Both of my friends were clueless about household repair, especially when it came to our heating plus a/c units. I even had to show them how to update the air filter, which I thought was common knowledge! As I taught my roomates about the basics of heating plus cooling systems, plus practices to keep our energy costs low, they began to realize just how little they knew about maintaining these appliances. By the end of the conversation, I was explaining to them about warning signs for Heating, Ventilation and A/C repair being needed. The rule of thumb was straight-forward – if it takes more than a minute to get the lake house cooled down by multiple degrees, the a/c plan needed to be tuned up or possibly repaired. The same went for the oil furnace, as the gas furnace likely needed repair if it took over an minute to warm our lake house by multiple degrees.
