I am a heating and air conditioning technician by trade. I have been working in the heating and air conditioning field for almost eight years. I didn’t always work in the heating and air conditioning field. After I graduated from high school, I went to work with my dad. He was in the construction business. I spent 10 years building houses, and I learned a lot about the construction industry. When the housing market crashed, no one wanted to build brand new houses anymore. My Dad decided to retire, but I only had enough savings for a short time. All of a sudden, I needed to find a different job. I decided to use the time to learn a brand new skill. One business that was really booming, was the heating and air conditioning repair industry. One of my friends knew some people in the business, and they were making a killing. There were no local schools offering a program in the heating and air conditioning field, so I had to drive an hour to school each day. I went to school five days a week, and it became very expensive. Some weeks, I had to eat ramen noodles all week, so I could afford to pay for the gas to get to school and back. I learned a lot about life, and I will never take any job for granted. The heating and air conditioning industry provides me with a fun and fast-paced environment. Everyday is different, and I see homes from an entirely different perspective. I wouldn’t trade any of my life experience, and I am happy to be where I am.
