I really enjoy my teaching job. It took me a long time to find out the best ways to connect with my students and get them to respect me. It also took me awhile to settle on the best teaching methods. All in all, it’s a very satisfying job. I do not have very many complaints at all. And as many people are quick to point out, I do get the entire summer off, so that’s really nice. However, like any job there are a few trivial annoyances that I deal with. There never seems to be enough time to eat lunch. I’m always scrambling to eat as quickly as possible and I’ve learned quickly that it’s best not to have anything that needs to be microwaved. Then there is the climate control in the building, or more specifically, the temperature that the principal insists on leaving the thermostat on. It’s absolutely frigid for me! Now, I will admit that I am typically always cold. But I have noticed that some of the other students feel that it is far too cold in the classroom as well. Some of the other teachers complain about it too. I don’t think it would be all that big of a deal to turn the thermostat down just a few degrees. I think that is all that would be needed to make it just a bit more comfortable. Too bad I don’t have a say in it at all. There are other teachers that have complained about it to no avail. I guess it’s just something we have to deal with.
