I don’t really know the first thing about building management. I’m not talking about being the manager of a restaurant or a store, either. I’m talking about actual building management. You know, all of the things that make a building run smoothly. My brother Thomas is pretty well versed in the building management and building automation industry, though. He has worked in building management for the past ten years and he’s in charge of his building’s built in electrical power monitoring system. I always make fun of him because I think that being in charge of a building’s integrated HVAC control system or it’s built in electrical power monitoring system just sounds like absolutely the most boring job that there is! However, Thomas actually loves it. He loves working on the building and troubleshooting any issues that come up. He’s always been very mechanically inclined, and he likes working on all kinds of electrical things, too. So I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised that he likes working in building management and building automation. He says that he loves the challenge of making sure that all of the things in the building are running smoothly on a regular basis. I think it’s funny, but I guess it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around. If my brother thinks that learning about BACnet protocol controls is interesting, then more power to him! Better him than me, I always tell him. I guess I can understand the interest in integrated HVAC control systems, but the other stuff is just a mystery to me.
