I absolutely love being able to work full time from home.
For the first two years of my professional career I had to work in a standard 9-5 desk position, so I know just how lucky I am! With that being said, working from home certainly does come with its annoying problems every once in a while.
Last week for example, my I was having a new heating and cooling unit installed at my house. I didn’t want to spend all day working at home without a working heating and cooling unit during this installation process, and I also didn’t want to be forced to make small talk with the HVAC repairman who were at my house. After weighing my options I decided to drive my bike twenty minutes to my favorite coffee shop for some coffee and to get some work done. Due to traffic the ride ended up taking an hour instead of twenty minutes, and at this point all I wanted was to get some fresh air conditioning and relax. When I finally arrived at the coffee shop and walked in however, I saw a big sign in the front that said that the air conditioning unit wasn’t operating and it would not be operating for the rest of the day. I came all of this way so I would have some cool air, and now I am here and it is just as hot and humid at my place! These are the types of things that just don’t happen at most offices, but I would rather deal with this every once in a while then have to commute to an actual office every morning!
