How the escape room in our area uses HVAC units to make it realistic

I don’t know if you have ever been to an escape room for a date night or with a group of friends, but if you haven’t you definitely should try it at least once. I was skeptical of these escape rooms at first because I am not really interested in puzzles, so I didn’t think I would enjoy it. Yesterday, I went to my first escape room, and it was a blast. What was really cool was that they used their HVAC units to make the experience more realistic. The storyline took you through the story of a man trying to escape off of a submarine within a certain time limit. You start out in your cabin with the air conditioner keeping you comfortable. Since your cabin is nicer than the rest, the air conditioner is keeping you very comfortable. As the submarine begins taking on water, they begin turning on humidifiers to make the air feel more humid. As time starts passing, you will notice that the settings on the dehumidifier begin to increase to demonstrate the increase of water. In the last room of the escape room, you find yourself in a heated engine room trying to find the key to leave. They used a powerful ductless mini-split air conditioner, which has a heating setting, to make the room feel muggy and toasty. The constant changing of climate makes it feel not only more realistic but also increases the stress as your body tries to adjust. I’m not sure if every escape room uses their HVAC equipment like this, but they should.
