My son has been living back at home for almost a week now due to his college shutting down due to the pandemic, and so far it has been a very interesting experience.
Going into this quarantine my wife and I thought that the young man who would be moving back home would be more or less the same one that left the nest six months ago but that idea has proven to not be the case.
The person who is living in my house at the moment seems to think he is much older and wiser than ever before and is challenging me on one thing or another every day. The latest argument that we have been having revolves around the situation with the thermostat. My wife and I have always been big fans of having the air conditioning running pretty much all year long since we are naturally warm bodied. Well, since my son has moved into his own dorm at school he has discovered that he likes to have the heating running at the highest setting because he seems to think this helps him study and focus on tasks better. I have no problem that my son feels that way, but as long as he isn’t paying the monthly heating and cooling bills for this home then he doesn’t have much of a say. We have fought about this every day since the stay at home order was announced and there is no sign of slowing down. I’m proud my once quiet son is starting to find his voice, but when it comes to the heating and cooling of this home he is just going to have to deal with it.
